Yeah! It finally worked. This is Ally's project. In case you can't tell, that is the tiger hiding in the grass.

Okay, I tried to post this weekend but the computer kept messing up. So after the third try, I just gave up. Hopefully we'll have better luck today. I was just letting everyone know that Ally's project is finally finished! She even gave her speech today. Did a very good job too. I do have to admit that I am TIRED of hearing about big cats. Go ahead. Ask me anything. I could probably tell you everything there is to know about tigers, lynx, lions, and black leopards. Though I guess that was the idea of the project...for her to become an expert on some subject. I think her models turned out pretty good. I had bought the dough to sculpt the cats but I didn't buy Sculpty brand since it is so expensive (but really good). The one I bought was very easy to work with but took FOREVER to dry. She ended up painting it before all the pieces were completely dry. Of course, as it was drying, all the legs, ears, tails, and heads fell off so we had to do some major repairs before she could paint them. All-in-all, it turned out pretty good.

UUUGGHHH! It's doing it again! I can't upload my picture of her project. I'll try again later.

Let it rain, let it rain, let it rain!! 3.5 inches and counting! It has POURED all day and we are loving it. Didn't even mind having to run into church in a dress and heels. Kitty wasn't to thrilled. He kept going to the door and just watching. Hmmmm....so did the kids and I. I sure miss Seattle on days like this.

Zoo Madness

Okay. My turn to post zoo pictures. I know Sharla told you all how crowded it was but I really didn't feel that claustrophobic until about the last hour since the place is so big. (Not including the lines for the bathrooms....that's a whole different story.) The kids did have a really good time. Of course the main reason I had for going was to get pictures of the big cats. And the male lion was asleep with his back to us and the tigers were all hiding against the wall. Oh well.

We spent the entire day yesterday working on Ally's independent project. We modeled 4 big cats, rocks, leaves, trees, etc., until I wanted to scream. Now if they will just dry so she can paint them. I really want this project finished before she has to go back to school on Monday. Next week is just going to be too busy to plan on doing too much on it. I don't understand why everything has to fall on the same day. Do they just like to torture busy moms?

Well, we still haven't found a new church yet and I really hate looking. In fact it looks like we are going to have to keep going to ours until after LTC since they keep moving Ally's choir practice between Sunday mornings and Sunday nights without telling anyone. I guess it will be okay. I still really like everyone there (even if alot of the young families have moved away). It's just that the service is so boring. I hate to say that but it's the truth. And I'm tired of being told that if I'm bored in the service then I'm not putting anything into it. No. It's just that I like to sing songs written AFTER 1850.

Gripe gripe gripe. Okay, one more gripe and I'll go. I HATE CARS!

It's Spring Break!!! A whole week of sitting on my couch, reading and sleeping. Okay, not really, but it sounds good. The kids are making lists of what they want to do this week. I think they have the whole week just about filled. Alyssa has a big "independent project" due at school right after the break so that is what she will be doing. This is the yearly project where last year she did the fashion timeline. She has decided to do a comparison of big cats this year. She is researching four and then making a habitat model for each. We'll see how it turns out. She a little nervous about sculpting the cats but I think she'll do fine. Just for the record, I'm REALLY tired of hearing all about lions, tigers, lynx and panthers.

I'm a little worried about Andrew over the break. He may not make it. He has decided that he doesn't have to listen to mom the first or second time she says something. After all, she may not really mean it when she says to put your toys in your room. I'm not used to this battle of wills over everything. He must get this from his daddy. Sweet little boy but he is definitely opinionated on everything he does and if something is not his idea, good luck getting him to do it right away. Any parenting tips would be greatly appreciated before I wring his cute little neck.

Oh for those of you wondering about our "R" snack. We chose Ritz crackers shaped like dinosaurs. Not the best but it was the night before and I wasn't going to spend alot of time on it. (unlike with the "L" snack) I did like dad's idea of the Rice Crispy Treats but it was too late. That would have been a big hit.

I am posting some very strange pictures this time just for my sisters. I know they are not very good but I couldn't resist. Does the show look familiar? I found a cable channel that shows THE NEW ZOO REVIEW on Saturdays! And yes, I remember all the words to the theme song. "It's quite an unusual thing, the animals talk and sing, with Doug and Emmy Jo. Everyday's a different showwwwwwwwww." Everybody now.....!!!
